COGEMA
INSTRUMENTS ACQUIRES APTEC-NRC
As of June 14, 2001, the Nuclear
Measurements Business Unit became a 100% owner of Aptec-NRC (Concord, Ontario), which in turn owned 100% of Aptec-NRC, Inc.
(Dover, NJ and Warrington, PA). This level of ownership permits
us to start working towards our goal, which is to create an
integrated worldwide presence that encompasses all of the
businesses in the Nuclear Measurements Business Unit. Ed Zieba,
the former CEO of Aptec-NRC, has agreed to stay on as a
consultant until December 31, 2001 to assist us in the
transition period. George Serrano has been appointed the new CEO
of Aptec-NRC and Mike Charland has been appointed COO of
Aptec-NRC to assist George in his new task; both are Directors
of Aptec-NRC. George and Mike will also continue in their
current existing roles with Canberra.

AHF-2000
or BHF-2000
Aptec-NRC
is proud to announce the HF-2000 line of monitors.
APTEC-NRC has developed the AHF-2000, BHF-2000 and the
BHF-2000Xe, these monitors have all the superb hardware and
software features of the C7 and Alpha-7 monitors except
by monitoring
the hands in two steps
they require two fewer detectors and pre-amps; thus
reducing the selling price.
Note that the count time usually will remain unchanged as
it is governed by the foot detectors.

TAM-100D
Aptec-NRC
offers a new High Sensitivity (drift-free) Digital Tritium
Monitor (Model TAM-100D) for real-time monitoring of ambient air
for the presence of tritium. This solid-state electrometer uses
a flow-through ion chamber that is portable and lightweight and
affords end-users a tritium detection range of 0.5 to 106
µCi/m3 with gamma compensation and automatic radon
subtraction. Stand-alone or coupled with a digital display and
control unit, the TAM-100D affords end-users the capability of
measuring exceptionally low levels of tritium quickly and
cost-effectively.

APM-3e/PMW-3e
Aptec-NRC
is proud to announce the introduction of the latest generation
of exit monitors. These
monitors are available with either sealed proportional
detectors (PMW-3e) or gas flow proportional detectors
(APM-3e). What
makes these units so special is that they were designed to
incorporate ideas provided by two of North America’s largest
utilities, with the result that they provide the ultimate
balance between superb body coverage and cost.
As an option they are also available with a large
plastic scintillator to give even better gamma sensitivity and
eliminate the need for a separate walk through portal monitor.

WRAP-100
Aptec-NRC
now offers a highly sensitive Wide Range Area monitoring Post (Model
WRAP-100) that is an advanced ion chamber based detection system.
Each monitor is a stand-alone system that can either be
hardwired through its optional RS-232/485 serial links or use other
means of data communication (e.g. wirelesss/telephone modem) to send
data back to a central computerized system.
Applications for this system include: perimeter
monitoring, gateway monitoring, waste site monitoring, and safeguards.
The WRAP-100 provides omni-directional response and uses a
pressurized spherical ionization chamber that covers from background
up to high dose rate emergency conditions.
With exceptional directional independence dependence the system
accurately measures gamma and x-ray radiation and is supplied with
Model CFD-300 current to frequency converter and display unit plus low
noise cable. |
